Privacy Policy

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. Your personal data will be protected according to applicable law. Both, our website and any data you send to us via forms will be transferred encrypted by TLS.

Stored Data

Server statistics automatically save data sent by your browser. That is the IP address of the requesting device, the type and version of the browser, the operating system, the referrer url (the page that linked to our site) and the time of the request. Data is only stored for statistical reasons and to improve our services (GDPR article 6 §1 f). Identifying persons is neither possible nor intended. Stored data will not be merged with data from other sources.

Any other personal data will only be stored when you send it to our website actively, i.e. with a registration request or query.

Data Stored on Your Computer (Cookies)

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive and are unavoidable on some interactive pages for technical reasons. They serve, for example, to store the access data of the registered user during a session and do not cause any damage. Some of our pages use cookies to ensure full functionality.  Common browsers offer the option not to accept cookies. Note: It is not guaranteed that you can access all functions of this website without restrictions if you make the appropriate settings.

YouTube

For the integration of videos, our site uses the provider YouTube LLC , 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, represented by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Normally, when you visit a page with embedded videos, your IP address is sent to YouTube and cookies are installed on your computer. However, we have integrated our YouTube videos with the enhanced privacy mode (in which case YouTube will still contact Google's Double Click service, but according to Google's privacy policy, personal data will not be evaluated). This means that YouTube no longer stores information about visitors unless they watch the video. If you click on the video, your IP address will be transmitted to YouTube and YouTube will know that you watched the video. If you are logged in to YouTube, this information will also be associated with your account (you can prevent this by logging out of YouTube before viewing the video).

We have no knowledge of the collection and use of your data by YouTube and have no influence on it. Use of Personal Data

We use personal data sent by you only to respond to your request, to provide services resulting from contracts with you and for technical administration. Your personal data will only be passed to third parties if this is inevitable for fulfilling your request or you have agreed to it.

All members of the network, employees and third parties involved in data processing are obliged to respect the EU-GDPR and confidential handling of personal data.

Contact form

All personal data that you send to us via our contact form will only be stored for and as long as it is necessary to meet the purpose for which we originally saved it (GDPR article 6 §1 b).

Blogs

You will find blogs on our websites that allow for comments and discussions. You can comment and participate in discussions without having to register with our website. When submitting a contribution, you will be asked for a nick name / alias and an e-mail address. The mail address will not be stored. It will only be available in the memory of our sever for less than a second. This is the time needed to send you an verification mail. This process is used to prevent fraud. Nick name or alias will be stored and displayed on our website to make it possible to follow discussions. You can and should use a nick name or alias instead of your real name to stay anonymous. To prevent fraud, the IP address of the requesting computer will be stored.

Your contributions will remain on our website as long as the related article exists or you request for a deletion of your contribution. This will require that you can verify that you are the contributor.

Newsletter

Subscription to our newsletter requires an e-mail address only. It will be stored and processed digitally, exclusively for sending you our newsletter as long as you do not revoke your consent. (article 6 §1 a GDPR). We use CleverReach for our newsletter management. We hold contract for commissioned data processing according to GDPR regulations with this provider.

Deletion of Data

Personal data is deleted when one of the following cases occurs: you revoke your consent to store your data, or storage of the data is no longer necessary to fulfill the intended purpose, or storage is no longer allowed due to other legal reasons. Please be aware that deleting your data can lead to a situation where some services might not be accessible any more.

Commissioned Data Processing

Some data storage and processing is handled by partners.  We hold contracts for commissioned data processing with each provider that obliges them to respect the rules and regulations of the GDPR.

Partner and Affiliate Programs

You will find recommendations for books on our site. If books are available on Amazon we have included a link to Amazon. Therefore we are part of the Amazon partner program and receive a small amount for every purchase via these links. This has no impact on the price of the products. Amazon will not receive any data except the webpage address where you have clicked the link and our partner ID. Other data will not be transmitted. Partner- and affiliate links are clearly marked with an asterisk (*).

Right of Access to Personal Data / Complaints

On request we will inform you which of your personal data is stored on our servers. We can provide this also in a structured, machine-readable form (XML). That ensures data portability according to GDPR.
